Summer Learning Journey!

 Kia Ora Bloggers!

A few days ago I signed up for something called the Summer Learning Journey. The Summer Learning Journey is fun work that you do for fun in the holidays. I decided to sign up because I get very bored with my two annoying older sisters. This way I have something fun to do. Anyway, I say scrolling around the Summer Learning Journey and I saw the task for this week. It was called: Art Colouring Book-NASA Edition. So I clicked the link and it took me to a art colouring book where you colour in pictures from NASA. I coloured in a few and looked back on the Summer Learning Journey and it said to post all of your work. So here are some pictures that I did! I will put on the picture of what I was basing it on and my one on there so you can see how I did.

When I did this I found it fun and easy to do. Though it didn't take me that long I thought. The colouring above this writing was the Orbiter Discovery touching down after a mission onto the landing pad. What was your favourite colouring out of the two? Why? Comment below with your blog link so I can look at your blog as well. Bye!

The Better Bracelet!

 Kia Ora Bloggers!

In inquiry we are doing something called The Design Process. We have to design a product that solves a problem. So we are innovators! Once we have all got a design and we knew the invention, we have to convince buyers (Our Teachers) to buy our product. We had to think about all the problems about our invention so nothing could go wrong. I decided to do a bracelet called the Better Bracelet. This bracelet can be customised to whatever pattern you want. The bracelet can have information stored onto it by an app on the person's phone. The information is mainly about if someone is or isn't a threat. If someone tries to take the person who is wearing the bracelet away, and the bracelet doesn't have their information on the bracelet, then the bracelet will call automatically call the police.

Here is a storyboard showing what would happen:

When I did this I thought it was fun to make because I really enjoy making storyboards. I wish that I could add more squares, but I can't. My sources were Storyboard That. Try it out! It's loads of fun. What would your invention be?

Amazing Athletics (Not Really)

Kia Ora Bloggers!

On Monday we had Athletics day. We did High Jump, Long Jump, Discus, Shot Put and Sprints. Personally, it was not fun. On a happier note, Long Jump was fun and I enjoyed so much! Also in Long jump we had it measured so we knew how far we jumped.

8M Stainless Steel Tape Measure - EMPIRE Tools

When I did Long Jump I found it fun and enjoyable, but all the other sports were less fun. Shot Put and Discus was okay though. My sources were the internet (For the tape measure picture), and my experience that I had on Athletics day. Do you like Athletics day? Out of the sports I listed, what was your favourite?

SHARK ISLAND!

 Kia Ora Bloggers!

On Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, in Maths we were creating our very map called Shark Island. I did this before last year in lockdown, but it was still fun to create and colour in! I finished my map on Wednesday, and now I am posting about it. We were learning about position and coordinates.

Here is a photo on my map:

When I did this it was really fun! When we did everything, we had to put and X on our map as a treasure chest! What I did find a bit tricky was finding room on my page! (I had to use my friend's hand because my hand went off the page!) My sources were the slide of instructions, my friend's hand, and grid paper. What would you call your island? What could I change next time? Comment below!

Astro and Buttons Adventures Across Space!

 Kia Ora Bloggers,

Toady Me and my friend Amelia wrote a story about two girls who were very different and were going to space together. It has six chapters so far, but we are still writing it. So check back often to read our story! I really liked writing it with Amelia because we have good ideas. Amelia is the person who I did the Maori Commands screencastify which we did later on my blog. I wrote all of the chapters with Buttons, and Amelia wrote all of the chapters with Astro.

Our sources were our brains and google docs. When I did this with Amelia I found it really fun and enjoyable. We both had brilliant ideas and we never disagreed with each other. I can't wait to finish the story off. Have you ever written a story with your friend? What could we improve on?

Organic Foods Plan!

 Kia Ora Bloggers!

For Literacy (Or Inquiry, it's a bit mixed up due to Lockdown) we have been learning about Genetically Modified foods, and Organic foods. When our knowledge grew on GMOs and Organic foods, our teacher decided that we would write a report on if we support GMO or Organic. I supported Organic.

Here is a picture of my plan:

When I did this I found it hard to come up with the subjects and text, but when I carried on writing, I got the words to just flow. My sources were Padlet, and my slide which I had written information on. What side would you support? What could I do better next time?

My Writing Starters!

 Kia Ora Bloggers,

Sadly we are in Lockdown. But I still wan't to show what I am doing for online learning! Yesterday in my online lesson, we did a story starter. I liked my story enough to share it with you. It is a slide that I will keep on editing because I will keep adding different story starters. I hope that you enjoy reading my story starters. Maybe they will inspire you to write your own story!

Here are my story starters:

When I did the first story starter, I found it hard to come up with the plot. But it was fine once I got going. My Sources were a picture that my teacher showed us, and google slides. Would you use my story starters? What would you change about my starters? Thanks for reading!

Super Scooper

Kia Ora Bloggers!

Sadly we are in Lockdown, but I will still keep posting so you can learn about what I am doing for online learning. Yesterday, my teacher tasked me with the choice of three choices. I chose the second choice. The choice was to make a tool that you could use to scoop out potatoes. You weren't allowed to use tape, or glue or anything. You had to pretend that you were in older days where they didn't have all of that stuff.

Here are some photos of my invention:

What materials did I use?

I used a bamboo stick, a large shell, and some flax.

When I did this I found it tricky finding everything that I needed to make my invention. The shell scoops out the ground to find the potato, and the shell also gets out the potato. Why did I wrap the flax round so much? Well, I cut the stick slightly at the top to wedge in the shell, so the flax is making sure that the stick doesn't break so easily.

Welcome Back to Term 3! The Olympics.

Kia Ora, and welcome back to my blog!

The holidays are over, we are back in school! This week for Literacy, we have been learning all about the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, (It's the 2020 Olympics because it was postponed and it was meant to be last year, but because of Covid 19.) I made a slide with all of the tasks that we had to accomplish at our own speed.

Here is the slide:

I found this challenging at some parts, because I found not find all of the information that I needed on the internet. This slide is not done, so this slide will update loads. My sources were the internet, Google slides, Google sites, and the New Zealand Olympic site. What is your favourite Olympic sport? What are you learning about in school?

The Toast Butterer 2: Designed On Paper!

 Hello Bloggers,

This week for Literacy we are making inventions. If you think back to my last post, it was about the Toast Butterer, but it was designed on a device! But now, I have made a design of my Toast Butterer on paper. It has a picture of what it would look like, how it works, what it is made of, why it is better, and what it is! I also drew a diagram of the parts that the Toast Butterer has.

When I did this I found it really fun to write and draw, and as you can see, I spent AGES decorating! It was fun and definitely my sort of thing to do! My resources were paper, pencils, coloured pencils, and my hand. (My hand was very sore at the end!) What would you invent? How would you market it? If you want to answer these question comment below!

My Invention: The Toast Butterer!

 Kia Ora Bloggers,

This week for Literacy we have been looking on Kiwi Kids News. If you haven't been on Kiwi Kids News before, search it up! It's a really good website where you can read about factual news, weird news,  interesting news, and more! We found an article about a straw that stops hiccups! We read the article, then we answered some questions, then finally we where allowed to make an invention of our very own. I called mine The Toast Butterer!

When I did this I found it really, really fun! I love inventing things, even if sometimes it's crazy and impossible! Sometimes, I try to make my inventions, but most of the time it doesn't work too well. My sources were google drawing, the internet, and a book I read. The book I read had this invention in it, but I explained it further, and adder a few more ideas of my own!
If you could choose anything to invent, what would it be?

Great Geometry!

 Kia Ora Bloggers,

This week in Maths, we have been learning all about Geometry. The first thing that we did was answer a 5 questions and then we could draw a map of of our school.

Here is my map:

When I did this I found it sort of easy, because I love to draw. But I found it tricky to think of every single place in the school, because my memory isn't great. My sources were: My Maths book paper, and my Chromebook camera.

Do you like Geometry? What did you like about my blog post? What feedback can you give me for next time?

Thanks for reading!

Satisfying Syria

 Kia Ora Bloggers!

A few weeks ago we had and event called Court Theatre Day. This was a day where some people come in and see how confident you are! When my class was waiting for our turn to go to the people, we had a bunch of tasks to do. One of the tasks was to research about Syria. I chose to do the task about Syria.

When I did this I found it tricky getting all of the information, but fun to get it all together and design it into my slide. My sources were the internet and google slides. What did you like about my slide? What could I add next time?

Rembrandt Artist!

 Kia Ora Bloggers!

This week in Literacy we have been learning about an artist called Rembrandt. I gathered all of my information into a fact book. Once I had my information, I tried to make the slide look interesting, so more people would want to see it.

My Sources were Wikipedia (I checked somewhere else to check it was true.), Britannica, google slides, and the internet. When I did this I found it sort of hard to gather all of the information, but it was okay in the end. Did you learn something from my blog post? What could I add?
Thanks for reading!

Maori Commands 2. Death by Screencastify.

 Kia Ora Bloggers,

Do you remember my earlier blog post about Maori Commands? Well, me and Amelia made a sequel! Maori Commands 2. Death by Screencastify. It is actually just a Screencastify, but it sounds more exiting this way.

Enjoy!

When we did this we found it very funny doing the teachers silly high pitched voice! We also laughed loads after we showed it to the teachers! Our sources were google slides, Charat genesis, screencastify, and our voices. What did you like about our video? What could we change?
Thanks!

Amazing Area!

 Kia Ora Bloggers!

This week for maths we have been learning about area. After we have done all of the learning, we had to make a slide to teach others about area. My slide will teach you how to do area, how you guess, and other important information about Area.

When I did this I found it difficult to come up with the maths cards. But apart from that, I really enjoyed writing the slide. My sources were google slides, screencastifiy, and the internet. What was your favourite maths card? Could I add anything more to have more information to my slide?

Maori Commands!

Kia Ora and Welcome to my blog!

For Te Reo, we have been learning commands then teaching others them to other in a cool animation! The commands include, Kia Tere (Be quick), Kia Tupato (Be careful), and Kia Tau (Be still). Me and my friend Amelia made this animation. We also added a new command so we could get in the teachers good books! Taihoa is the new command that we added.
Taihoa means Wait! Our animation is not finished yet, so more will be added on! When I did this I found it really fun because I got to make an animation with my friend, and I can learn new commands! Amelia thought it was really fun to learn commands, and design the people. (I enjoyed designing the people as well!). Our sources were Charat Genesis, google slides, and images online. What did you like about our animation? What do do you think that we could add next?

My outfits are the ones with red hair and Amelia's are the ones with blue hair. In real life Amelia has brown hair and I have red hair. We might add more outfits as we go on!

In The End.

 Hello Bloggers!

For Literacy this week we have been reading a book called In The End.This book is about the war, and The 1912 Waihi Goldminers strike. After we read this book, we needed to do a storyboard of one scene in the book, then answer some questions. I decided to share my storyboard with you.

When I did this I found it a bit hard because it took me a while to choose a scene. Also, Canva was not letting me put in a text box! My sources were Canva and google slides. How do you think I could make my storyboard a bit more interesting? Comment your answer below!

Aladdin Arabian Castle On Minecraft!

 Hello Bloggers!

I am in a play at my school and when I am not practising my dance or singing, I am designing my very own Arabian Castle from Aladdin! If you have not watched Aladdin, I would suggest it. It's a really good movie! I took some photos of my Castle so you can see it! It is not finished yet. I will add more photos of my progress as I go on.

When I did this I found it really fun because I love playing Minecraft and I love making castles! My sources were Minecraft, and a picture online. Do you like my castle so far? What should I add?

This one I took on accident.
This is under the stairs.
At the front showing the stairs with me in the photo.

Marvellous Measurement!

 Hello bloggers!

This week in Maths we have been learning about Measurements. Once our teacher decided that we have done enough learning, we made a slide to teach someone else how to measure! On my slide there are pictures, explanations, and a video that I made! Enjoy.

When I did this I enjoyed it because it was fun to make. (Even though it took many attempts to do the video). My sources were Screencastify, Google Slides, and my pencil case.  Do you think that I had enough information? What could I add next time? Did you learn anything from my slide?

The Animation of Weather

 Hello bloggers!
Me and my friend Holly made a weather animation to educate people about the weather in Maori. We really enjoyed making it and we hope that you enjoy seeing it.
Here is our animation:

When we did this we found it kind of easy because we already knew the the question and answer in Maori. Our sources were Anime Maker (To make the people), slides, and the internet (for the backgrounds) . Is there anything you think we could change in the animation? He aha te huarere?

Elephant Adventures!

 Kia Ora!

A few days ago for literacy, me and my class wrote a story about an elephant. We could do whatever we wanted with the story, so, I went crazy with fantasy. Dragons, talking animals, stuff like that. I love fantasy. Maybe one day I will post a picture of my dragon I drew!
Here is my story:
When I did this I found it AMAZING and kind of easy. I found it AMAZING because I love writing so,so,so,so much! And it was kind of easy because I could do whatever I wanted with it! My sources was google docs and google slides.
What would you do with your story? Would the elephant have a happy ending?

Parts of an Email

 Kia Ora!

Today for cyber smart we had to write an email to our home group teacher saying why pets should be allowed on public transport. The subject was just a random option, but the main thing we were doing was to see if we could write a quality email. After writing the email you need to label the different parts of an email then post it to your blog.

When I did the labelling of my email I found it quite easy because my teacher explained how to do it really well. When I wrote the actual email I found it a bit hard to come up with paragraphs, but after a few paragraphs I got the hang of it. My sources were google draw and gmail. If you want a quality email follow these steps. Do you think that this is a quality email? What could I do better next time?

Family Life Comic (FINISHED!)

 Hello Bloggers!

My name is Mabel. I really like making comics. I find it really hard to do it on paper, so I am doing on my device. It is all about a moody teenager, a pair identical annoying twins, one weird baby, a playful toddler, a funny dad, and a overactive mum. It is still in progress I will definitely add more. Enjoy!

When I did this I really enjoyed doing this because I love making comics and I like my story line. My sources were google slides and Story Board Creator. What do you want me to do with my family next?

CAMP!!

 Kia ora kairangitaki!

Taku ingoa inei Mēpara! My name is Mabel! Mēpara is my name in Māori. I want to learn some different languages so I will be adding different languages into my blogs! It will be more fun for you, and then I will be able to learn some languages!

Anyway, a few weeks ago my class went on a super fun camp trip to Living Springs! There was a monorail (Basically a small roller-coaster), a Zipline, Air rifles, Archery, Swimming, Rope courses, Games, Animal survival, a Waterslide, a rope swing, tree climbing, and so much more!

Over all, the camp was amazing! I was so scared at some points, but then I realised to keep calm and carry on. Push yourself. You will not regret it.

Ask your teacher to go! I doubt it will work, but still try!

Event, Function & Activity Centre | Living Springs, Christchurch, NZ

Imagine if you could design your very own camp. What activities would you put in your camp?

Axolotls

 Kia Ora, kairangitaki!

For literacy, we are using a website called Wonderopolis. Wonderopolis is a website where you search anything you want up and it will give you some detailed, well written answer. I did my learning on Axolotls, my favourite animal!

Here is the slide:

My sources were Wonderopolis, and google slides. When I made this slide I really enjoyed it because it meant I could learn more about this fantastic species.  What is your favourite animal? What would you do your Wonderopolis about?

Google Scavenger Hunt

Kia Ora!
Today is our third day back at school. (I still wish it was the holidays!) At school my teachers told us to do a scavenger hunt on google docs. What we had to do is we had to find information about questions.
Here is the Google Doc:

I got my information from the internet. It was kind of fun doing it. We had to do stuff like make the whole doc yellow, change it to landscape, insert a table with three columns and five rows, and stuff like that.
How was your Holidays? What did you do? Comment below!
